Position Description

Deep Water Point & Associates is the leading GovCon consultancy firm specializing in government contracting and federal pursuit services. We seek an experienced and talented mid to senior level Speech Writer with a strong background in developing scripts/speeches for federal orals presentations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with FEDSIM, APEX, and GSA Regions, and will be responsible for crafting compelling and strategic content for client oral presentations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with presenters to create clear, engaging, and persuasive content for government orals presentations that aligns with their natural speaking style.
  • Help presenters incorporate feedback into their content based on practice sessions.
  • Conduct interviews with key client stakeholders, including solution architects, presenters, and executives, to ensure messaging resonates and content highlights the clients offering, strengths, and differentiators
  • Review and edit content for clarity, consistency, and impact.
  • Ensure all content adheres to and is compliant with solicitation guidelines and requirements.
  • Perform final reviews of content to ensure accuracy and alignment with client objectives.
  • Research and integrate industry-specific and governmental terminology to enhance accuracy and relevance.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proven track record as an orals presentation script and speech writer in the federal government contracting space.
  • Extensive knowledge of FEDSIM, APEX, and GSA Regions, with experience in various orals presentation formats, including in-person, virtual, and videography.
  • Strong understanding of the federal procurement process and best practices for creating highly effective orals presentation content.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with presenters to interview, develop and refine compelling content.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and integrate a wide range of government-required needs into the script or speech narrative.
  • Skilled at working to tight deadlines with flexibility and precision.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building abilities.

Desired Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in in English, Communications, Public Speaking, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. Note: experience will be considered in leu of a college degree.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years proven experience supporting script/speech development for FEDSIM, APEX, GSA, and other federal agency orals presentations.
  • Knowledge in bridging public speaking techniques with presenter content is highly desired.
  • Experience and expertise working with a wide range of client stakeholders to gain input and develop content.
  • Knowledge of the Federal acquisition lifecycle, GovCon best practices, and familiarity with common government business and technical concepts.
  • Experience as a proven professional speaker is a plus.
