Position Description

Deep Water Point & Associates is the leading GovCon consultancy firm specializing in government contracting and federal pursuit services. Our team of seasoned consultants, subject matter experts, and practitioners deliver unmatched expertise and insights to help clients thrive in the federal marketplace.

We seek an experienced and dynamic Orals Coach with a robust background in government contracting and orals presentation coaching. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with FEDSIM, APEX, and GSA and will be responsible for coaching and preparing client teams for high-stakes oral presentations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert coaching for federal proposal oral presentations, including FEDSIM, APEX, and GSA Regions.
  • Tailor coaching plans to meet each team’s needs.
  • Conduct mock presentations, providing feedback to refine delivery and content.
  • Collaborate with clients to align oral presentations with written proposals.
  • Guide the creation of slides and visual aids for optimal impact.
  • Ensure presentations effectively communicate the client’s solution, value proposition, and differentiators.
  • Work closely with clients to understand objectives and adjust coaching strategies accordingly.
  • Offer strategic advice on communication techniques to enhance success.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to boost presentation skills and confidence.
  • Review and refine content for clarity, impact, and compliance with solicitation requirements.
  • Assist presenters with script/talk track development and refinement.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proven track record as an orals coach in the federal government contracting space.
  • Deep knowledge of FEDSIM, APEX, and GSA Regions, with familiarity with various orals presentation modalities including in person, virtual and videography presentations.
  • Strong understanding of the federal procurement process and government contracting requirements for orals presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach teams and individuals to deliver compelling and persuasive presentations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp a diverse range of government-required services and apply that understanding to coaching.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with flexibility and precision.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills.

Desired Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public speaking, business, or a related field. Note: experience and expertise will be considered in leu of a college degree.
  • Minimum of ten years proven experience coaching with a major focus on FEDSIM, APEX, GSA regions, and other federal agency orals presentations.
  • Proven experience as a professional speaker is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the Federal acquisition lifecycle, GovCon best practices, and familiarity with common government business and technical concepts.
